The breakfast here was delicious with a great variety of meats, fruit, and cheeses, and the location is very central, just a short walk from the town center.

The hotel personnel were particularly helpful, the breakfasts wonderful, and the room very comfortable in the European style. We had a family room and there was even a bit of privacy given by a wall separating our son's area from our own.
Nothing negative to say. It was what I expected: a good, solid middle-class European style hotel/B&B.

Good breakfast spread, friendly staff members who were helpful throughout the day, and great base for wandering around Bruges. Central but not in the middle of it all.

Staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms had high ceiling and the bathroom was quite large.
My bed was hard, but my husband and daughter loved the firm mattresses.

Hotel room was cozy with double paned glass to keep out the street noise.. Very quiet room! Bathroom was large and nice
I don't like the children's policy. Nearly every other hotel allows children under 5 to stay free if using existing bedding. My 4 year old was charged 10 euro each day for breakfast.

Not recomened for anyone with mobility problems due to narrow, steep and winding stairways

This hotel is perfectly located near all the major attractions and sights. It's easy to walk to everything, making it very convenient. the room was clean and well-presented, with lovely vintage furniture and comfortable beds. the breakfast was delicious and the service was fantastic. the view from the room was amazing, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. As a solo traveler, I appreciate the leisure facilities such as the small private patio and cozy sitting area in the lobby. the only downside was the lack of counter space in the bathroom but it was a minor issue that didn't detract from my overall enjoyment.

We really liked the close proximity to the Markt (it's just across from the end of the road) and the city centre in general so we could walk everywhere, yet the hotel was very quiet and enabled a peaceful nights sleep. The hotel has plenty of character as did the bedroom and it was a great surprise to find a modern en-suite with a lovely walk-in shower and 2 sinks and a hair dryer. The bed was really comfy - over the course of seven nights we stayed in 4 hotels and in the other 3 hotels I woke with backache but not at the Boterhuis (we stayed in room 1). Narrow spiral staircases lead up to the first floor but the owner offered to help with our cases. They add to the charm of the place.
The only really nit-picky point we could possibly make is there were only 5 hangers in the wardrobe but I'm sure if we had asked for more they would have been provided. However, there was plenty of shelf space. If like us you spend ages reading all the reviews for a large number of hotels in a given price range and worry whether the negative points mentioned by other travellers will be an issue and spoil your stay then stop worrying and book the Boterhuis.
